Lost all menus and window chroming

Post by XChangeGirl »

Hi. Not sure what's happened, but I suddenly find that I've lost almost all menus, status bars, basically all window chroming, in pdfxce.
It's not in full screen mode.
Nor is the toolbar at the top just in collapsed/minimum mode. I'm unable to bring it back.
When a pdf is loaded, I can expand the the left-side panel and see its vertical toolbar.
When a pdf is not loaded, it's pretty much just a dead application window.
Basic key commands (e.g., Alt+F) do nothing.

It must be some an errant key combination or click that I did somewhere. But — what was it, and how do I undo it?

Thank you!

Function key F8 ?

F8 is the toggle key to show/hide all toolbars in PDF-XChange Editor.

Thanks for the reply. F8 does not do anything when I press it.

With a file opened (by clicking in explorer), F11 toggles full screen, And F7 does spellcheck, but all other the function keys do nothing. Without a file opened, all function keys do nothing.

With a file open, some shortcut keys work, eg., when I select text, I can highlight it using my usual shortcut key (Ctrl+H, not sure if that is default of if I customized it.) But have no access the main toolbar — can't open it, expand it, etc. Can't access any of the Alt key menus/options......

Strange!

Hello, XChangeGirl

If you could please include a screenshot of what exactly you do see here, that would help us to determine what might be happening. For now the best suggestion I can offer is to try F8 (as willy suggested) as well as F9 and Ctrl+F8. Please try pressing all 3 of these in this order, cycling through the full list twice.

Thank you, Willy and Daniel.

Ctrl+F8 seems to have done it. Then after that, F8 alone started also toggling the toolbar, when it hadn't before....?

I must have sent some inadvertent keys.

So pleased to be using the program — and to have discovered a few days ago that my license had another year to run! :D

Thanks again!!
