pdfxce's diy darkmode dont function if PDF is a scanned white page.
but competitor's work, say
x0d0,
dravvb0ard
clarify:
pdfxce only have "color override" mode,
but it didn't override the white scanned page.
others can.
some perform good at some, others perform well at something else.
no true king yet.
ps: the competitor's are more finger friendly on tablets, either windows or android.

Hello, krstoevan
For the moment, we have no plans to allow color overrides to also override images, so at this time, this is something which we will not be able to offer.
Kind regards,

Hi krstoevan,
thanks for your feedback. The situation is as it stands, you are welcome to use whatever alternatives you want. I believe we are fully compliant with the ISO specifications. You say that the xodo online editor handles some sticky note differently?

hi,
i have to say, pdfxce sticks more to the standard than others.
i used a software calle docfetcher pro (have demo) that work with pdfxce but not x0d0.
https://sourceforge.net/p/docfetcher/discussion/702424/thread/5880239730/
see #6
i used beyondcompare4 to compare the exported comments by pdfxce and x0d0,
the left is pdfxce, right is x0d0. at first,
x0d0 lack line 12 and 14 of the pdfxce code.
at first, pdfxce work, x0d0 don't.
then i told docfetcher pro's author, he/she corrected it and now both 's sticky note could be searched.
yeah pdfxce is good, just not perfect.....
esp not uptodate /w the digital world.
we on street use android, iOS.
windows is not finger friendly

Thanks for that krstoevan
at the end of the day there will often be differences between how applications handle the ISO regulated specifications. We do our best to be 100% compliant. If you find documents that we create that are not compliant with the PDF specifications please send us the PDF and details of how it fails to comply. We can address such things if you send us the file we will verify it for compliance.
At the end of the day it matters not what other applications do, we are a Windows only application, and we do our best to be ISO compliant. if you want a phone app you will need to look elsewhere I am afraid. If you find documents that we created that are not complaint please send them to us and we will investigate.
I hope that helps, I am not clear on what you are asking from us in this discussion, but if you report an issue we can reproduce here we will certainly investigate. My apologies if I am missing the point of the post.

Re: pdfxce's diy darkmode dont function if PDF is a scanned white page.
1. for this thread, my 1st aim is to report that scanned white page is still white in the DIY dark mode. it sucks when i use pdfxce at nite. in asia, we may not have our own room, we share room with others. so i have to turn off the light, so dark mode is important for us.
2. somehow we talk about competitors or android/iOS. OK, pdfxce somehow windows exclusive. But as you know user CERTAINLY use android or iOS, and use PDF on that device. Viewing ONLY on those device is simple, but if anyone want to EDIT PDF on mobile device, one will afraid the editing is NOT compatible with pdfxce (even both claim to stick to ISO). Could pdfxce simply SUGGEST what to use on android or iOS? did tracker soft ever use android/iOS internally, what app they use then? simply tell us is ok.
3. i could report the bugs/errors and have done before. but my subscription is eneded. any improvements i have to use AFTER several years after i subscript again, that lowers my interest to report.
thanks

Re: pdfxce's diy darkmode dont function if PDF is a scanned white page.
for pdfxce, i will subscript 1 year, then use for several years.
then subscript for 1 year again, and then use for several years.
keeping a live subcription is very cost uneffective,
esp the price doubled since 2010s!

Hello krstoevan, sorry for interrupting.
rakunavi
Setting the Windows color filters setting to "Inverted" produces exactly the same display results as the night mode in Drawboard PDF. Of course, it also works for raster images (what you call "a scanned white page"). The colors of the entire screen will be inverted, but color filters can be turned on and off with a shortcut key, so it should be comparable as long as PDF-XChange Editor is used in single display and full-screen mode.

Re: pdfxce's diy darkmode dont function if PDF is a scanned white page.
hi,
thx for suggestion.
however in this era people like me, overwhelmed by information use DUAL LCDs.
so as you said,
while doing this changed the white background in scanned PDFs;
the other monitor will be WHITE to kill me eyes.
anyway still appreciate your input.
works for me if i use a tablet with only 1 LCD.
thx

Hello, krstoevan
I believe that Rakunavi's suggestion was more along the lines of "use the light theme for everything on the system" so that you can activate this feature globally. Not so much expecting everyone in the world to only use a single monitor, but that does bring up the point that if you are not using the other monitor at the time, you could also simply turn it off to prevent the full white screen issue you mention.
Kind regards,

Re: pdfxce's diy darkmode dont function if PDF is a scanned white page.
even his plan somehow works.
there is still difference btw how pdfxce performs from others.
for the darkmode.
pdfxce only let you choose 4 things' color
i tend to choose text as magenta, stroke as red, highlight as blue?
anyway,
pdfxce's highlight may result in the text become blue.
for others, in the dark mode,
the highlight will still be yellow. (/w white text, /w a yellow background, but the other areas of the page is black).
there is difference.

Hello, krstoevan
I am not quite sure what else to say here, so I hope that you can find some personalization options here that suit your needs. For the time being we do not offer the feature this thread is discussing, but it may come sometimes in the future.

hmm... is there still no "inverted" color mode in PDF-xce that would affect images as well?
The issue with inverting the colors of the whole system is that not just the PDF (content) would get inverted, but also the UI and other programs, that might already have their own dark mode..

I am afraid that no, we still do not offer an "invert colors" function in our software, and I have not heard any promises that it is yet on its way..

ha ha
with ketchup or mayo? Salt and Vinegar?
It is likely it will happen, it is however considered low priority, but I believe it is something the devs are in support of.
we will have to wait and see.
