Congratulations on all the work done in V.384! I can see it is going to take me awhile to get my head around all of it (or some of it).
But I do see maybe one anamoly. If I validate the bookmarks of a file and it throws a flag on a invalid bookmark scan and I then delete the offending bookmark, save the file, close the file, reopen the file (confirming that the bookmark has been deleted), and revalidate the file I find that the deleted bookmark is still flagged with the same fault. Surely, this cannot be correct.

Re: Bookmarks Invalidity Report Survives Deletion
Hi, PHK
I went to try and reproduce this but my bookmarks were good and I failed miserably tying to break one. Can I ask you to send the document you have for this please?
Kind regards,
Paul - Tracker Supp

Re: Bookmarks Invalidity Report Survives Deletion
Gee, I'm sorry but I cannot; it is my 2022 tax filing package and, accordingly, very sensitive and large.
I will try some more files that I can possibly send.

Re: Bookmarks Invalidity Report Survives Deletion
But it may be a while because I am finding invalid bookmarks for sure but I have yet to have another as reported above.
When/if I do, I hope to be able to share the file with you.

Re: Bookmarks Invalidity Report Survives Deletion
As a 'big' bookmark user, I think I am going to find this tool very useful. However, I am not sure about the term "validate."
I often use bookmarks with no action as parent (or sub-parent) bookmarks with the children bookmarks being the only ones with actions which would now be classified as "valid" whereas there is nothing really invalid about the parent bookmarks just because they have no associated action. For instance, if a parent bookmark is Statement Years and the children are 2019, 2020, 2021, etc, I don't want the parent to have any action whereas I do want the children to change the focus to the appropriate particular page.

Re: Bookmarks Invalidity Report Survives Deletion
I think what I need is a fourth option to take in the Validate pop-up panel: in addition to Stop, Edit, and Remove, I would like "Approve" or "Validate" or some such positive action that would innoculate the bookmark from getting flagged again.

Hi, PHK
thanks for the feedback, you should be able to tell the validator not to worry about childless parents:
Does that help?
Kind regards,

Re: Bookmarks Invalidity Report Survives Deletion
Thanks for the suggestion. But it is not childless parents that I worry about (at least in this context, but rather any bookmarks that I prefer not to have an associated action.Paul - Tracker Supp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 5:09 pm Hi, PHK

However, I withdraw my original problem report. I was not using the Highlight Bookmark function so there were actually two identical offending bookmarks like that and I only detected and deleted one! Therefore, PDFXCE was correctly finding and reporting the second one.
Sorry about that!
