underline texts

Post by Silke »

Hello,

if I open a pdf-file which I have printed here than I can mark texts or underline with the Tool. But if I open a pdf-file which I have got from a customer, than I cannot do it. Why ? What is my mistake ?

Greetings, Silke

I suspect it has security set not allowing such an option or is an image only PDF file.

If you care to zip and post the file here - we can advise further.

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Hello,

I am not allowed to give the complete file. And so I extracted 1 page and I put black boxes about the most things. You will see a ring with dimensionings and a bit text above.

You are not allowed to highlight text into this document because there are no text. At least on the page you sent - it is Image based.

Good morning,

how did you find it out ? That does mean, that the costumer first made a picture as a jpg-file and than printed it to a pdf-file ?

To display PDF file we should know what it contans, isn't it?
Your file contains no images or text - just set of drawings. Yes, each letter can be represented as set of lines and curvers, so to display something like text you can use set of curvers. Not so good idea if you need small file, but usable.

One method - open the document properties and check the Fonts page. If there are no fonts - there is no text.

Yes, thats one way. Or, as it is into your case, characters can be just drawn using lines and curves (please do not ask how I did find this out? ).

Hello,

I have got this file from a customer. So I do not know what the customer has done, in order to get this pdf-file.

okay, I know now how to find it out by myself.

And I will not ask any more how to find out whether the text is a real text or only lines and curves.

Thank you !

Have a nice weekend, Silke
