Sightly OT re creating new stamp
Hi all
At last! I can now create and use my own stamps, thank you!
I already have a number of scanned in images such as my signature that I would like to use, all different formats, TIFF, GIF, BMP, etc.
I would like to make the background transparent on some stamps, such as my signature.
Can anyone offer any suggestions to the best file format to support transparent backgrounds?

Stamps support transparency if it was in original image, so you need to create image with transparency. Recommended format is PNG, however GIF should also work.
And if toy need vector stamp - you may create PDF file with required content and then import it into stamps.

Here are two transparent images that don't seem to work as stamps.
Chindit BW.png is a 1-bit PNG image
Aimlogo.gif is a 16 colour GIF image.
Increasing the PNG to 16 colours works OK.
Saving the GIF image as a 16 colour PNG also works OK.

Sorry, for now transparency works fine for images with alpha channel, but not for images with transparent color. Both supplied images use transparent colors, not alpha channel, so they are treated as solid.

I think that using transparent color is old technique, new applications use Alpha channels.
I am not profi in graphic, not using Adobe Photoshop or similar 'huge' applications.
For my need best fit freeware 'Active Pixels 2' from http://idea-systems.net/ (just 8 MB installation file).
Making transparent images wit this sw is easy - just open, go to main menu -> 'Image' -> 'Auto tranparency' and save.
Sorry for this advertisement, but may be helpful for somebody.
Best Regards,
Jiri
