Problem: French Accents

Hi,

I'm new to using PDF-XChange Viewer, and it's a great utility. Unfortunately, I'm working with some French documents, and the French accents don't show up in the PDF text. As you can see by the attached image comparison, the adobe reader displays the accents fine.

Is this a problem with PDF-XChange Viewer or is there a setting I need to change in the Preferences? I tried changing the language to French, but that didn't seem to help either.

I'm using the current build (37.2), and I also know that it still saves the text properly, i.e. if I stamp something and save the pdf, the text still appears in Adobe even though it still doesn't in PDF-XChange.

Hi,

Changing the language in the settings is only the interface language change.
Can you send us sample files which reproduce both problems: one with the wrong displaying characters, and another with thee edited pdf which does not display correctly.

Better to use Help -> Report a problem in the Viewer menu and send us at least font information and also sample files too please.

Did you ever get a solution to his as I have exactly the same problem with a PDF document in French. 95% of the accents display correctly but a hadnful don't. As soon as I open the document in many other PDF viewers the problem goes away and all the accents are displayed.

When you print the document the problem still exists.

I cannot send the PDF because the document belongs to a client and I'm bound by a confidentiality agreement.

Repeat, we NEED a file to make any investigation. We cannot help without a problem file - all the files which we have are displayed well. So you have choice:

1. Try the latest build after every release and pray that problem is already solved (some fixes were made in build 38, so you should try it).
2. Find some non-confidential pdf file which displays the problem and send to us.
3. Strip the confidential information from your file (for example using full Acrobat, not Reader), and if problem still exists - send the file to us.
4. Trust that we will not use confidential information (for sure we will not) and send a file to us using e-mail or "Report a problem" (or upload with ftp), but not posting it here.

Hope one of the above is acceptable for you.

Yeah, sorry, I was submitting my thesis and now am in the process of moving. There's a couple pages I can send you I just need to split them off of the PDF.
