Is it possible to sharpen a scanned image with text?

Post by RFreund »

I have a pdf which has a couple hundred pages of text. Is it possible for me to create a new pdf from this with sharper images of the text?
I know I can OCR, but can it replace the text with new text and images?

Thanks!

Hello, RFreund

That is the primary purpose of the Enhanced OCR engine, it does not simply give "Sharpened text" it directly replaces the detected text content with an actual font based character set. The Enhanced OCR engine is required to generate editable text content in this way, which requires an Editor Plus (or PDF-XChange PRO) license for use.

Beyond modification of the text, we do offer an "Enhance scans" function, though this is primarily for removal of blemishes and such, and its sharpening capabilities are intended only for text areas.
You would want to switch to a dedicated image editing application for that kind of process with full images.
