Hello,
My ribbon has disappeared, and the vertical bar on the left doesn't have anything that I can click on so that I can see comments, bookmarks, etc. I do have the quick access toolbar.
Any suggestions on how I can get them back?

Welcome to the Forum.
There are a short keys that hide/show Toggle All Toolbars- F8 or Toggle All Command Panes Ctrl + F8
If you have unintentionally have pressed any of those combinations pressing them again will enable the toolbars for you.
