The tooltip for the keyword field reads:

Commas can be used to separate keywords

Which of the following formats that meet this requirement is correct?

1. keyword1,key word1,key word 1
2. keyword1, key word1, key word 1
3. keyword1,"key word1","key word 1"
4. "keyword1,key word1,key word 1" (by analogy with the list of authors)

All of the above should work. As you have noticed, the Author field is a bit special in this regard, and the quotation marks there should encompass the full string, other fields, to my knowledge, do not have any other special requirements.
