I would like to create my own custom stamps. Browsing the forum, I see many posts mentioning a custom stamp palette which can be taylored, but on my own installation, I see no such palette, the directories which should contain the image files in DocumentSettings etc. do not exist...
I am using the Pro version 2.0 build 36.
Any clue about this please?

This thread will tell you how to create Custom Stamps. Basically, add each design to one page in a DTP program and publish it to PDF. Import the stamps on each page into PDF-XChange.

Please first update to new version (2.0.39). Then look to help file, there is nice HOW-TO

The clue was actually to upgrade to the latest version. Time is moving fast...
