Just me noticing that PDF/XCE crashes more
I am also unable to kill it in task manager
Really weird...
I have deleted files from the recovered files section as I thought that had something to do with it, but it still happens.
No error messages at all, the program just doesn't open from clicking on it on the taskbar after closing it, no matter how long I wait,
I basically have to restart windows (11) to make it work again.
Update: it actually did open 5 minutes after clicking on it in the taskbar. But then when closing it , and trying to open it again, it does nothing, (no loading animation of the cursor either)
and takes longer to load once you close it? Despite it running in task manager (but still looking like it is not opened in the taskbar or in the minimized icons)Crash report . Newest version as of 10.08.2025

Thank you for the report, Can you think of any other actions you have performed prior to closing which might lead to this change? Even items outside of the Editor could have an impact, perhaps you are running a security scan on your device, or have pending windows updates, etc.?
In any case, I have passed this along to the Dev team to check what might be helpful in this case. I worry that, since you mention you cannot kill the task via the Task Mgr, than this will fail, but could you try creating a "process dump" from the task, and see if that gives any output? (Right click on task > "Create Dump file")

Hello, Just a quick followup on this
How many sessions do you have saved currently? I ask because we do have an ongoing issue whereby if you have a somewhat excessive amoung of sessions, with large numbers of files in many of them, you will experience something similar to what you have described. Sessions are not particularly "lightweight" items, so if you need such a large number, it may be best to create external "session files" instead of storing them as part of the UI (which means they need to be written to the registry and checked each time you exit the software).

Yes I do indeed have a lot of sessions. Is there a way to set a maximum amount of sessions? e.g. 100 or whatever the program can handle? So that the newest one you save overwrites the oldest? I'd prefer some setting like that to having to delete the sessions manually.

I do not believe there is a way to limit the total number of sessions at this time, though it is becoming apparent that the real use case may demand such in the future.
I should also note that the Updater is version independent of the installed software, you could have V7 installed, and still see the updater in V10.6.1.397. The best way to accurately check your installed version is to open the specific software application, and navigate to "help > about".
