Signing Documents in PDF-XChange

Post by ew96 »

A couple questions related to the signature function in PDF-XChange:
1. What is the difference between digital signatures vs signatures? Is digital signatures more secure?
2. Similar to DocuSign, is there a way to place signature lines for others to easily know where they need to sign?
3. If I need someone to sign multiple spots in a document is there a way to do it once before saving it rather than having to save a new file everyone time a signature is placed?

Hi, ew96

thanks for the excellent questions.
What is the difference between digital signatures vs signatures? Is digital signatures more secure?
Digital signatures use a certificate and lock the state of the document when applied. Signatures from the Signatures and Initials tool are essentially just an image and do not change the document security.
Similar to DocuSign, is there a way to place signature lines for others to easily know where they need to sign?
Yes. To have multiple people sign a PDF you need to place signature form fields for each one prior to anyone signing. This is because the act of signing will prevent adding more form fields, so no additional signature fields can be added. https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgeba ... ure-fields

You can use the "Duplicate Annotations" tool for that:

opens this:

Then only one of them needs to be signed and they all use that same signature.

I hope that helps. Do let me know if you have any questions with any of it.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
