This may be the intended behavior and I'm just asking too much but I'd like to OCR a scanned file (attached). Using the new engine and basic settings it outputs a fine document (attached), removes background, etc. but misses a few things I'd like to correct. For example, page 2 first word should be Powers but shows up as Rowers.
I assumed I'd be able to backspace over the 'R' and replace it with a 'P' but cannot.
What is the best way of putting a 'P' in the ocr document? Advise on putting in the formula from page one at the bottom?
Thanks.
Scott

Re: OCR creates documents that cannot be modified
Hello, scott.mange@gmail.com
Licenses for the "Editor Plus" and "PDF-Xchange PRO" specifically, both include the ABBYY "Enhanced OCR" engine, which is able to create "editable text" content when performing OCR.
- If you do not have one of those license types, than you would be using the tesseract engine, which is only able to create searchable text, that cannot be edited in this way.
- If you do have one of these licenses, you may need to check the output options of the OCR function, to ensure that the dropdown is set to "Editable text and images" or "Fine page content" instead of "searchable image", and afterwards, this should be immediately possible by enabling the "edit text" tool.
As an extension to this, if you cannot change the output options to "editable", it is liekly the the older OCR engine is selected in the preferences. Please open the Editor preferences window (Ctrl_K)m and check the OCR category. Ensure that the Enhanced option is selected, and click OK. Then try running OCR once again.
Kind regards,

Hello, scott.mange@gmail.com
Thank you for that, I had to remove your license screenshot there as it included details that should not be shared publicly. From what I can see here, the file you are processing should most definitely have editable text in place. Are you certain that you are using the "Edit text" tool on the "home" tab when you try to edit these items?
If so, and the result is insubstantial, please send us a copy of the document in question, so we can take a look.

Re: OCR creates documents that cannot be modified
That fixes it. I'm an idiot.
I thought because I could select the text, I could immediately edit it.
I didn't realize I needed to click on a different button.
Thanks very much for your help!!
