fix to boundary QR code in forms

Post by RoelofH »

I have created a PDF with a text box which content will also be shown as a QR code (data matrix) with a fixed size of 40mm by 40 mm.
This works, but the created qr code is very small because the text is not very long.
I increased X dimension to 1.02 mm, the biggest available. But still it does not fill the QR code box.

I asked chatgpt, but that has a delerium, it keeps talking about setting the fix to boundary toggle in properties, which isn't there.
I also Googled and that points me to the Arrange tab and then the Transform button.
But that button is always greyed out in Forms.

How can I get the QR code fill the whole box (so scaling to 40 x 40mm?

When I add a QR code under the Home tab (a "flat" QR code, then scaling is no problem. So I'm a bit puzzled why it is so difficult to do it under the forms tab.

I'm using PDF-Xchange Editor Plus v10.7.3 build 401.

Hi RoelofH,

Can you please share a screenshot with the QR Code (data matrix) as the content for a text box?

Note that the size of the QR code is determined by the width/height properties when placing the QR code into the document:

If you set those to 40mmx40mm, that will be the size of your output data matrix.

You can also use the properties pane to edit the size of text box forms:

I hope addressing those two things will get you the outcome you want.

Kind regards,

Hello Sean,

The textbox is linked to the barcode 7 box. The problem is that the generated QR code is smaller than the box reserved for it, because the text isn't very long. You have a big whitespace around the qr-code. If I make the text long enough, it will fill the QR code, but I just want the QR code scale to fill the area allocated for it.
When adding a QR code under Home/add, then the QR code scales no problem, but under Form, I can't get it to fill the whole area.
