Scanned PDFs Displaying with Unexpected Blue/Gray Filter

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering a frustrating display issue exclusively with my scanned PDF documents in PDF-XChange Editor.

The Problem

Since today, all scanned PDFs opened in the Editor are displaying with a distinct blue or gray tint/filter applied to the pages, making the them look incorrect.

System and Software Details

- Software Used: PDF-XChange Editor
- Version: 10.7.6 build 404
- License Type: Free Version
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200 Build 26200

Troubleshooting Steps Completed

- No Recent Changes: I haven't consciously made any major software setting changes recently.
- Dark Page Mode Checked: Confirmed that Dark Mode is disabled.
- Override Document Colors Checked: This option is disabled.
- Scope Confirmed: The issue is confined only to scanned PDF documents opened in this specific software. Regular, non-scanned PDFs display colors normally.

To those who experienced or might expericence this problem, the culprit is the color profile.

I solved the problem by toggling the "Automatically manage color for apps" option for my displays in Windows Settings.

Hope this would save you some time.

Thank you for the addition of your solution there, Color profiles are indeed well known to have various issues along these lines.

For any users who try Goodluck3's solution above and it does not help, Please also ensure that you have all Windows updates (including "optional" updates) installed.
- Optional windows updates often include drivers and color profile updates that are related to connected peripherals. This includes items like your monitors and printers - which are often the root cause of these issues. As always, after any update, do restart your PC to ensure the changes are finalized and fixes can take effect.
