Post by roundshoes »

Recently, in converting a cad drawing(s) into .pdf document(s), not all of the cad drawing(s) information are fully being converted. Some lines and texts are not on pdf(s). What is happening via conversion process? Thanks

Thank you for helping me with this issue. First attachment shows what image looks like when opened in X-change window. Second attachment shows what document looks like when transferred to this site. Most times, when sending pdf documents to clients, images will look like first document with little information. Thanks again.

Hello roundshoes,

Based on verification using the latest version (build 404) of PDF-XChange Editor on multiple PCs, the attached “SHEET 1.pdf” appears to be displayed correctly. Conversely, Adobe Acrobat Reader and similar programs encounter errors, displaying only a portion of the file—exactly matching the display results you showed as the result of viewing it in PDF-XChange. Even when trying well-known online services for converting PDFs to image files, the rendering results were identical to those in Acrobat.

Given that multiple well-known PDF rendering engines produce similar display results, I personally suspect there might be an issue within the PDF export process of the Visual CADD software you are using.

Incidentally, when I saved the file using PDF-XChange Editor's Optimize PDF feature with “Optimize Page Content” enabled in the Cleanup Settings, Acrobat was able to display that PDF file correctly.

The above information is based on the latest version of PDF-XChange Editor, Version 10.7.6 build 404. Upon further investigation, PDF-XChange Editor began displaying properly starting with version 10.0.0 build 370. Version 9.5 build 368 and earlier produced the same display results you described. Therefore, if you are not using the latest version, updating it will likely improve the situation for you as well. Incidentally, the support page states the following:
Please ensure you are using the latest release of the product in question before reporting any issues, as they may have already been resolved if you are using a previous build.
The above is merely my assessment as a user, but before receiving a response from PDF-XChange support, I thought it might be helpful to share a different rendering result I obtained. I'm posting it here for your reference.

Best regards,
rakunavi
