We work on a number of drawings for large warehouse that show the locations and ID number of wireless access points. Ideally we would like to have these test box locations to have the ability to show the MAC address and seral number of the device, however, we don't want the text box to be too big or take away from seeing the ID # easily as the AP's are sometimes in high density areas.
Is there a way to utilise the Excel spreadsheet that we have with all this info and create some form of link that shows this info when you linger or click on the AP location on the drawing?

Hello, Craigap
Not by using an excel sheet, but you could manually add a "highlight" comment to this text, then double click on the comment to add in such details. After that, hovering would show the needed information: After which, hovering over this comment with the hand tool will show a popup with that text in place: Kind regards,

Thanks Daniel, unfortunately this doesn't seem to work on text boxes I've added.

Re: Create Popup info on PDF from Excel sheet
Hello, Craigap
If you are converting the file from Excel to PDF, all of the text in the Excel file should be base content, and thus work with this method. However, if you are adding new items to the PDF file after conversion, than you will need to ensure you are using a base content text tool - or that you "flatten" any comments you create once you are done with them.
To create new base content text, use the "Add > text" tool from the Home tab, or use the "Edit" text tool and add that text into the block of another text item nearby.
To convert a comment item, like the "typewriter" or "text box" tools into base content, Once the comment is completed and you are happy with the presentation of it, right click on it and choose "flatten selected comments" to convert it to base content items.
Once you have done either process, you can use the highlight tool as noted above.
Kind regards,

You could do this with form fields to show the information, rather than markups (annotations), quite easily with a tool I just posted here: viewtopic.php?t=48978Craigap wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 1:53 pm We work on a number of drawings for large warehouse that show the locations and ID number of wireless access points.

You'd arrange text form fields on the plan where you want the information, and set the form field names and field formatting to something that makes sense. Then set up a spreadsheet thus (you could set readonly when setting up the fields - it doesn't have to be done here): Paste into the tool: Voila:
