Place signature box using code

I have a utility within my application that allows the user to specify a region on a document. I use this to automatically place a stamp on a document. What I want to do is the following:

1. Allow a user to specify a region using this utility and then for a digital signature field to be placed on PDF document in the region specified.
2. Automatically place a digital signature in the digital signature field.

Is this something that can be done?
