Dear Anyone.
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, it's not software specific, it's just a general .PDF question, probably stoopid (I've got Asperger's!) I don't understand.
I wanted to make an online flipbook using .PDF pages. Never done one before in my life, but it seemed logical to do - say - 20 individual pages, upload them and the software would 'staple' them together into one virtual book the pages of which could be turned by a mouse. So I carefully did 20 pages, uploaded the first (Heyzine, but I can't get an answer from them on this, probably because they can't believe I don't understand it!) looked for how to add pages, couldn't see anything to let me. Googled, got told I had to join all the pages together as one .PDF, THEN upload it. Now here's the question.
So you've got this roll of .PDFs you've just created - how does the software know where to break the pages up? If it asked me "what size pages are you using" and I said "A4" (or whatever) and it chopped everything up in A4 chunks because of that, fair enough. But it doesn't. So the only thing I can think of is white space - if it hits white space it assumes it's the end of a page. But what if it's just a gap before a picture or a diagram and the page continues after that, wouldn't you hit a situation where some pages were way shorter than others, loads of them were widow-and-orphan central and people were having to flip between pages to see on - say - page 2 the diagrams that were being talked about on a tiny page 1 that only had a couple of paragraphs because the system put the break in at the wrong place?
As it's not separate pages, and you're not asked what size the pages are, how do you make sure the system puts the page breaks in the right places?
Yours very puzzledly - I know this is probably in the wrong place but I couldn't find a better place for it, sorry! -
Chris.

Re: Question about PDFs and flipbooks I don't understand.
Hi Chris,
The easiest way for you to do this is to combine the 20 different pages you have into a single document using a feature like the "Combine Files" feature in PDF-XChange Editor. It will automatically create a single page for each document that you include, and the creation of page breaks will be automatic and come at the end of each document (assuming each document is a single page, of course).
Note that that feature is a licensed one in PDF-XChange Editor, so if you want to test it out in the free version, please do so only with a copy of the original document, as the software will add demo watermarks to the output.
Kind regards,
