**Suggestion: Adjustable Toolbar/Icon Size for High DPI 4K Monitors**

Hello,

I’m using PDF-XChange Editor on a 29" 4K monitor.
In "Preferences → General → High DPI support", I have selected "Use per monitor resolution”.

With this setting, the program looks very sharp and the text is displayed perfectly. However, on my monitor the toolbar icons and some buttons are still a bit too small.

Would it be possible to add an option to adjust the size of icons/buttons independently, similar to what other applications offer? For example, having 2 or 3 selectable interface sizes such as:

* Small
* Medium
* Large

This would help users with high-resolution displays keep the sharp text while making the interface elements easier to see and click.

That’s a very valid suggestion, especially with the increasing use of high-DPI displays. I’m also using a 4K setup (27” in my case), and I’ve noticed something similar—text rendering is excellent with “per monitor resolution,” but UI elements like toolbar icons don’t always scale proportionally for comfortable use.

One thing I’ve experimented with is adjusting Windows display scaling (e.g., 125% or 150%), which does improve icon visibility slightly, but it’s more of a global workaround and not always ideal if you want to keep maximum screen real estate. It would definitely be more practical to have application-level control over icon sizing, as you suggested.

Another partial workaround is customizing the toolbar layout—removing less-used icons and spacing things out a bit can make interaction easier, even if it doesn’t directly increase icon size. Still, that doesn’t fully solve the usability issue on dense displays.

I think having predefined UI scaling options like Small / Medium / Large (or even a percentage-based slider) would be a great addition. It would align well with how other modern applications handle high-DPI environments—keeping text crisp while allowing users to adjust visual comfort based on screen size and viewing distance.

Also, it could be helpful if such scaling applied consistently across:

Toolbar icons
Ribbon elements
Sidebar panels
Clickable UI controls

This would make the experience much more balanced overall.

I have Windows display scaling set to 175%.
With this setting, the font size in PDF-XChange Editor is very comfortable and everything looks very sharp and clear. The only issue is that the toolbar icons are still quite small.

For example, I also use GIMP for image editing and I had the same problem there. However, GIMP includes an option in the settings to change the icon size independently from the text/UI scaling, as shown in this screenshot.

A similar feature in PDF-XChange Editor would be very useful for users with high-resolution monitors.
