I would like to report a minor UI conflict/bug regarding the Thumbnails pane in PDF-XChange Editor and suggest an improvement.
Current Behavior
Currently, when the "Interactive Highlighted Area" option is enabled in the Thumbnails pane, users cannot initiate inline editing of page labels by clicking them, even if "Use Logical Page Numbers" is enabled. However, inline editing still works perfectly via the F2 key.
It appears that when "Interactive Highlighted Area" is active, the hit-test or mouse click detection treats the entire thumbnail item (including the text label area underneath the page image) as part of the navigation control. As a result, the click event on the text label is intercepted and absorbed by the "Interactive Highlighted Area" function, preventing the inline text editor from launching.
Proposed Solution
Since these two features do not inherently conflict in purpose, they should be able to coexist.
I kindly request that the development team refine the hit-test/click detection inside the Thumbnails pane to strictly differentiate between:
- The Page Image area: Handled by "Interactive Highlighted Area" for navigation.
- The Page Label (text) area: Handled by the inline text editor upon a click.
Thank you for your continuous work on improving this excellent software. I look forward to your feedback.
Best regards,
rakunavi
