Problem with latest update and Feature Request

Post by masgaster »

When I open and print a previously saved PDF that had been edited with this program, the old text squishes together and looks bold, while whatever I type and print without saving looks normal. Nothing has changed with my font. This has actually been an issue with build 40.4 and 40.5 (not sure what build I had before updating to *.4)

**Note: You can't see the difference until you actually print the document

Also a feature request: Print markups only
This would great for composing a document on a scan and printing to the original.

Thanks for the great program and great support forum.

About problems with printing some fonts. In most cases it is problem of printers drivers, but not the viewer (I can say this exact because we had encountered such kind of problems long time agi during developming of PDF-XChange printer driver).
Some explanation: when font isn't embedded into PDF file, one of fonts installed into the system used for printing (substitution) and there are no problems. But when font is embedded, we should use this font. To print any text using this font we need to create temporary font based on embedded font, and install it temporary into the system. After printing, we are removing such temporary fonts. And there is problem: some drivers 'believes' that fonts are always present into system, but into DDK specification it is noted that is it guaranteed that font is available only during printing text using this font.

By the way, we are thinking how to make some workarrounds, and hope we will solve this problem very soon.
As a temporary solution for users who has such kind of problems, change option "Print Text as Curves" to the value "For Embedded Fonts" into Advanced settings on Print dialog.

Thanks for your patience.
