Can't print this PDF

Post by impronta »

I hope this is the right place to post my problem and have the developers read it.

With current version of PDF X-Change Viewer (2.0 build 40.5) I cannot print the PDF you find here attached. Also the previous build (2.0 build 40.4) has the same problem.

When I print it I only get a small vertical band containing a minimal part of what the page contains. I tried from several PCs (all Win XP SP3) and with 3 different printers (NRG/Nashuatec, Triumph-Adler, Canon)

I have not any previous version installed at the moment, but I have good reasons to think that this problem does not occur with old versions. I'm sure of this because the problems occurs only with PDFs created by the scanner that we use with the Triumph-Adler printer. This is a usual tasks in my company and we never had the problem until I upgraded the Viewer to the latests versions.

If I use Adobe Reader to print the attached PDF there is no problem, the doc is printed correctly.

I can reproduce problem with HP LJ P2015 PCL6 driver, but all is ok with HP LJ P2015 PS3.
Very strange. Looking why the problem happens, and will fix.

@Ivan: Maybe you have already read my PM to Support "Printing PDF produces blank sheets of paper"

--> When printing the attached PDF, I only get two blank sheets of paper. Only when selecting "print as images" it works.

I'm also using an HP 2015 PCL 6 driver, but the problem occurs also with an NGR MPC 2500 PCL 6 driver. Maybe a PCL 6 incompatibility?

And as the thread-starter, PDF produced from (various) scanners are affected ... as far as I see only multipaged.

Looks like PCL printers has a limit on number of pixels (scaled depends of DPI) into one image block. We had found that this limit is about 4 megapixels.
We had modify print images routines to handle this limit, and now all is ok. At least on my HP LJ 2015.

Glad to hear, that's ok over there.

Can you please provide a fix for download? I's quite urgent, because we don't know, weather a pdf was printed correctly till we see many empy sheets of paper in the printer ...

I can upload .exe only for private usage and only for testing -- it will not be an official release.

Two questions:

1.) Does this fix also solve my problem of getting empty sheets of paper? (see posting above and provided PDFs via PM to you)

2.) Could you send the fixed exe for testing to me, please? (see PM with my E-Mail adress)

Sorry, can you send PM again (with your email and PDF too), because I cannot see your PM for now.
Or send email on Ivan@tracker-software.com.

Hello folks. I'm glad to see that my problem can be verified and that someone is working on it.
Is there any further progress and forecast about a patch or new version to solve the problem? In effect it's becoming a real trouble here :(
Thanks

Hello
Ivan, I tried your new executable patched for the problem and made some test.
Printing now is ok and it seems there isn't any other issue related. Great job.
Thank you for the support.
