Digital Signing
Is it possible to open a previously created pdf fdocument and digitally sign it? My quote preparation system prepares a pdf file which I need to sign. It seems I need to print the document again to get a digital signature?
Is this possible with another tool?
Any help / tips appreciated.

Re: Digital Signing
Hi - this is possible in PDF-Tools or PDF-XChange (the print Drivers ) - but is not yet in the Viewer - but will be coming in the PRO version in a future release.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.
Best regards

Re: Digital Signing
Thanks for the quick response.
If it is of interest my goal would be to have a Stamp Tool which I had set up as a Signing tool. I could have my credentials saved and only would need to supply the reason I was signing any document. I should be able to use a jpg file as the signing image. I would not have to provide the coordinates of the page location, but just select the Stamp Tool and apply it where I needed it with a click. Then, by saving the document, the program would provide the magic to lock the signature to the pdf.
Is the above what the developers have in mind when they are considering your new version? If so, would it be likely that such an enhancement occurs with a future version within a likely timeframe? It would be nice for me to understand what sort of priority is placed on the enhancement.
Thanks again.

Re: Digital Signing
Why not create a stamp in photoshop etc and leave a space for comments in the stamp, and use the typewriter tool to put your text in the space you have left (assuming you have flatten the stamp on the document first)

Hi Tom,
Because this would not lock the document from changes. However perhaps I can manage this on a temporary basis. As per my previous post, will the feature eventually be incorporated along the lines of how i worded my requirement?
thanks

Re: Digital Signing
Sorry to hijack the post, but I have 2 comments/requests. Using the stamp tool for signatures is great, but often it blocks completely lines and other surrounding text/graphics which make it obvious it is a stamp. It would be great if the signature stamp could be transparent. The Current "transparent" option available in the properties tag lightens the color of the signature which is also a giveaway. A truly transparent signature that allow the background to be fully visible would be best.
Second, about digital signatures, what type of security would be placed to ensure only the "owner" is able to digitally sign? I Imagine a password, correct? Many thanks for this wonderful software.

This is wonderful functionality.
What I'd love to see is the ability to expand text codes, so that you could enter one: <user_name> as "John Smith" and it would be added to each stamp when stamped.

What is 32-bit transparent PNG? Is it a setting? Where do I find it? I can't seem to find it in the viewer. Sorry if it is a dumb question.Bhikkhu Pesala wrote:Use 32-bit transparent PNG.gcarcamo wrote:A truly transparent signature that allow the background to be fully visible would be best.

Google is Your Friend.
That is, there is no need to ask dumb questions. Just search for "PNG Transparency" with Google to find out more.
