Problem updating Viewer

Post by guyghk »

Hello,

I followed the steps to "Check for updates" through the Help menu and got the following error message:

---------------------------
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
---------------------------
C:\PROGRA~1\TRACKE~1\PDF-XC~2\PDF-VI~1\Updates\PDFXVW~1.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:0dd2 IP:0364 OP:63 75 2d 74 72 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
---------------------------
Close Ignore
---------------------------

If I ignore, the message changes very slightly, but is essentially the same. E.g.:

---------------------------
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
---------------------------
C:\PROGRA~1\TRACKE~1\PDF-XC~2\PDF-VI~1\Updates\PDFXVW~1.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:0dd2 IP:0460 OP:63 75 2d 74 72 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
---------------------------
Close Ignore
---------------------------

At the end of the process (if I click "Close") I get a message saying the update was successful, but there is no difference to version number.

Any suggestions? I am currently running 2.0.39.2 and the wizard looked as though it would be updating to 2.0.40.5. I am not keen to run a fresh setup, as I have customised some parts of the interface to exactly how I want it.

Thanks

You can uninstall and reinstall a new version without losing your settings.

At least I did that OK earlier today.

I will follow your suggestion uninstalling 2.039 and re-installing the 2.040, thanks

I had the same problem. I just downloaded the updated version and did a install - I didn't uninstall first.

Works fine now.
