Relative Links Point to Wrong Location
Hello,
I have a problem with a PDF document on the web using the plugin in FF2.0. The PDF contains relative links, I believe, pointing to other PDFs in the same web directory. However, clicking on these links does nothing, and hovering over one shows the link points to a local file (...\LOCALS~1\Temp\plugtmp\example.pdf), instead of the web file. These links work great using the Adobe Reader plugin. Since the documents are dependent on these links, this makes PDF-XChange useless for me, as it would be very inconvenient/impossible to download an entire web directory! I am using version 2.0.00.40.5.
What can be done?
Thanks!

Hi,
Here is the link to a PDF on the web:
https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pub ... AINIXA.pdf
In the PDF, click on the blue text, or buttons in the subsequent PDFs, to follow the links.
If you still need it uploaded in an archive, just let me know.
Thanks again!

Re: Relative Links Point to Wrong Location
Confirmed. Links work OK in Adobe Reader plugin for Opera, but using the PDF-XChange plugin, they point to a file in my browser's cache, so they do not work.
If I download the file to \My Documents\ and open it from there in PDF-XChange the links point to a file in \My Documents\
If I open the local file in Adobe Reader — again, the links do not work.

Re: Relative Links Point to Wrong Location
Hi,
Thanks for confirming. Tracker Support, will this critical problem be corrected in a future release? Do you still need a PDF uploaded, besides the link I've provided?
I should note that if the related documents are downloaded in a common local directory, then the links do work correctly, both in PDF-XChange and Adobe Reader. So, it appears the same is trying to happen in the temporary plugin folder, only that the related files do not exist there. The plugin needs to be looking in the web directory, not its own temp folder, for the related files when following the relative links.
Thanks.

Yes, problem confirmed and will be fixed into the next build. But please note: if 1) document will be saved and then opened into the viewer or another viewer, or 2) will be opened from browser plugin into external viewer, relative links will not work correctly.

Re: Relative Links Point to Wrong Location
Hello Ivan,
Thanks for the reply and confirmation of the quick resolution. I understand that the links cannot work in all situations, as they are indeed relative.
Congratulations on creating wonderful software and a great experience.
Much thanks!!

Re: Relative Links Point to Wrong Location
Hi,
I updated to the most recent version 2.0.00.41, but the problems still persist. It appears as though some changes have been made, but it is still unusable.
In FF2.0, the plugin cannot open any relative links, and hovering over them still shows the link as a local file but now in the root of the drive (e.g. D:\example.pdf).
In IE, the plugin can open relative links on the web, but they point to the wrong location. Instead of linking to the complete path (e.g. http://www.example.com/documents/pdfs/example.pdf), they only link to the root of the website (e.g. http://www.example.com/example.pdf), which is invalid.
After downloading the parent PDF and its child PDFs (linked PDFs), the viewer itself will not open the linked PDFs that are in the same folder on the computer (this is not to be confused with opening the PDF in the viewer from the plugin). Again, it behaves like the FF plugin, in that links point to the root of the drive (e.g. D:\example.pdf), instead of the containing folder.
Why are these problems still unresolved?
Here is the original link I provided for testing before:

Tracker Support,
Were the fixes to these problems not incorporated into the latest build? Are they slated for another? What is the status?
Do you need me to upload a test document or further information?
