Ligatures (again)

In a post in this thread, dated June 22, 2008, Ivan said,

Support for ligatures will be added in an upcoming build together with improving the text editor for supporting east asian languages, etc.

However, the problems I mentioned in that thread (inability to search reliably for words containing ligatures, escape sequences when pasting copied text containing ligatures) are still present in the latest version (build 40.7). I'm still eagerly waiting for the promised build that supports ligatures. Is this feature still anticipated, or has it been abandoned? If it is still planned, are there any rough estimates of when it might be available?

Support ligatures into Find/Search will be added into build 42 or 41.

Thanks very much -- that will be very helpful to me. As I mentioned in the original thread, the copy/paste issue is much less important, just a minor inconvenience, but not being able to search reliably is a big deal.
