To be honest, it is not the viewer that asks for Adobe Reader, but your document.
More precisley - the JavaScript inside your document.
This script checks if some features are available (in the current example I suspect it is checking for XFA forms which isn't supported for now), and when it detects that the feature isn't supported, it shows the message box suggesting a download of a newer version of Adobe Reader.
XFA support is coming in a future release ...
