Opera Plugin Stopped Working?

I can view PDF files in Opera by dragging them from my local drive, but if I attempt to open a PDF file from the web, all I see is the Launch toolbar (which is floating). Even that has disappeared now, as I closed it. A PDF-XChange process starts running in Task Manager after I click on a link to download a PDF file.

I tried several of the small PDF file links on this page — 5 precepts, 8 precepts, etc.

Is anyone else seeing problems, or is this an Opera caching problem?

The IE7 plugin is working fine.

FireFox works well (Opera and Firefox uses the same plugin).

Hm, I can't reproduce this. Opera opens the PDFs from this page with the browser plugin as expected.
But I'm not sure if the update to build 41 RC1 also installed the latest browser plugin, since my npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll has still version number 2.0.40.7 (I tried to reinstall the update, but it doesn't get replaced - so maybe it's the latest version!?)

So it works fine here with
WinXP, SP3 32bit,
Opera 9.63,
PDF-XChange Viewer 2.0.41 RC1, plugin version 2.0.40.7

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't work out what the cause was so I deleted opera6.ini and that fixed it.

Here is a screen shot of my browser's tab after visiting this page and clicking on the link to open the PDF file “Three Refuges and Five Precepts."

I first dragged a PDF from my local drive and displayed the Zoom toolbar as floating (just to show that the PDF file is being downloaded OK), then closed that tab. I then visited the page, and clicked the link, but all I can see is the Zoom toolbar. Windows Task Manager shows that the PDF-XChange Viewer plugin is running.

I started this thread on the Opera support forums, in case it is an Opera problem, but there are no replies as yet. The problem could perhaps have been caused by recently applied MS updates. I am using Windows XP Home SP2 — fully patched AFAIK.

If I open the Pan and Zoom window from the Zoom toolbar, I can see the PDF file in the P&Z dialogue, I can resize it, zoom in, etc., but it never shows in the browser tab.

Maybe the reason is npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll into release still has version 2.0.40.7.
Please try 2.0.41.0 version from attach.

Thanks, but that makes no difference. I restarted Opera after copying the plugin, but the behaviour is no better. In fact, I don't even see the zoom toolbar now, but an instance of PDF-XChange is still running in task manager. That instance disappears when I close the tab from which I opened the PDF. The plugin still works normally if I load a PDF file from my local drive.

I deleted opera6.ini and the plugin is currently working again. I still have no idea why it stopped working before, or how long it will continue to work.
