"Set Current Appearance as Default" function not working

I just upgraded to build 41.3 and find that the "Set Current Appearance as Default" function is not working. All typewriter functions default to a font of Courier New with a size of 12 even after selecting the "Set Current Appearance as Default" function on a typewriter entry with a font of Arial and a size of 9.
Is the "Set Current Appearance as Default" function broken in this build?
Is there a way to modify the default style for the typewriter?

Set current appearance as default does not apply to the text, but to the object.

You need to set the Text Formatting options on the submenu to set the text formatting defaults.

I know, I know, RTFM. I simply don't remember having to select the Text Formatting submenu in the previous build. Apparently a senior moment on my part. Thanks for setting me straight.
