Redude file size

Post by capncavu »

Hi: I have a very large PDF that is too big to send via email attachment (~7 MB).

Is there a way to reduce the file size? I wouldn't mind losing a bit of resolution or making it B&W instead of color.

Thanks!

This is not really a question for the PDF-XChange Viewer forum as it depends on the program that you used to produce the PDF file. Most PDF producers will have an option to reduce image resolution, which will have the greatest effect on file size.

Using fewer fonts, or only web safe fonts, or subsetting fonts, or not embedding fonts can also make a signficant difference. Have a good look at the dialogue in your program when you go to produce the PDF.

If you did not produce the PDF, and don't have the source document, there is not a lot you can do. Even the best archiving program will not compress it by more than a few percent if the PDF contains large JPG images.

Hi,

You would need to look at our PDF-XChaneg or PDF-Tools products to acciomplish this at this time - or use the option in the Viewer to convert the PDF file to a suitable Image format and then convert this to PDF in the tool of your choie.

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.
