Comment styles palette save behaviour

Post by capn_buzzcut »

When creating a comment style, shouldn't there be a save button for this function? As it is now after you've created a comment style and close the dialog, if you select a comment tool and then change, let's say the color, then it changes the current style. Shouldn't those styles be saved rather than overwritten?

I think it would be better to have a save button within the comment styles dialog, and the only way to change a style should be within that dialog.

If you have choosen any comment tool but haven't selected a comment, all changes will be made using the current style.

If you have a selected a specific comment, changes will be made into this comment.

This behaviour is by design and will not be changed.

Then I'd say the design of the comment styles concept isn't very good. Let's suppose that I create a comment style for the rectangle and name it "blue", and it's a solid blue box. If i select that style, and start making nice blue rectangles, then everything is ok. But let's say I leave that style selected, and no selected comment, and use the comment and markup toolbar to change the color to green. Now my "blue" rectangle comment style has changed as well.

It seems to me the correct behavior would be to have a built in "current" style. You could add, edit, and save styles using the comment styles palette only. If you select a style, and then change something about that style using the comment and markup toolbar, then your previously selected style would no longer be the "current" style.

Just a suggestion. Love the software!
