Hello @Tracker!
When we use "Send by E-Mail" the "Windows Mail" is being opened instead of installed Outlook 2003.
We use Server 2008 64Bit with Terminal Services.
We made the "Default Programms" work with Outlook by using the "Programms" App to
make Outlook 2003 the Default Mail Client. When using "Send to - e-Mail" in e.g. Word
or when clicking on a "mailto:xxx@yy.zz" link in the browser, everything works
fine and Outlook 2003 is being opened, but only the beloved XChange Viewer uses
"Windows Mail" instead.
Is there another Registry Kex that is being used by XChange Viewer?
Thanks
Healey

Sorry to keep you waiting Healey,
we have seen similar behaviour on some 64 bit Vista machines, I believe this is the first we've on Server 2008 Terminal Server. We have a new build due out soon, I can see if this has been identified as a bug and if a fix scheduled to be included, and for other registry settings too.

Re: Send by e-mail goes to false Mail-Client
The next release is due out in a couple of days. Unfortunatly it doesn't look like this is going to be addressed. Once this build (build 42) is done we are committed to looking further into this. We are looking for a long term solution that will address all the issues related to this including compatability with Lotus notes and other non MAPI clients. As a work around in the meanwile we will look into adding into the Viewer functionality that is already in the Print Driver that would allow setting up an SMTP server for mailing without needing to call the locally installed mail client.
I do appreciate that Outlook 2003 is MAPI and should work, we will be able to devote some resources into thsi hopefully starting next week.
We will get a work around for you, and eventually we will have an all encompassng solution. Your patience and ubderstanding in thsi matter are appreciated.

Thanks you for your fast reply!
We changed to Acrobat meanwhile, but in spite of using Terminalservices via VPN, we learned that xChange Viewer is amazingly much faster in viewing an scrolling pdf's than acrobat (or other viewers we tested so far) !!
So we are looking forward for a (may be temporarily) fix. An smtp-Server would not realy adress this for us, because the enduser will ask when they do not see "their" Mailclient . .
Awaiting more good news!

On my x64 system (Win 7 RC) now build 42 uses outlook as a MAPI client - we had make some tricks but I'm not sure it will works on your side - you will need to check it when this build will be available for download (it is released but not published yet).
