Modify preference for HIGHLIGHTING text found during search?

Post by xchgntx »

I employ the search function very frequently to locate text on highly detailed schematics in PDF-format. Given the size of the schematics, colors, and zoom-level, after I initiate a Search and PDF-XChange (registered user of version 2.0 Build 41.5) has located and highlighted it, it oftentimes is extremely difficult for me to see the highlighted region on the page. I went into Edit->Preferences->Accessibility where I discovered the ability to alter the Document Color Options, but there does not appear to be any special customizations available for specifying the search highlight color. Yes, I can select "Override Document Colors" and choose one of the "Use Predefined High-Contrast Color Scheme"'s to improve the view, but that leaves much to be desired. Only the "Black text on white" is viable as the highlight color always seems to be a pale blue (cyan?) color. Of course, this alters all the colors of all the other items on the page which provides significant readability improvements so I have to go through the menu again to revert it back after a search. This is terribly cumbersome. Is there another mechanism either through the Preferences or even editing the Windows registry to resolve this? Can you make the highlighted text that is found flash or blink?

Hi xchgntx,

At this point in time there is no way to change the search result highlighting, I'll pass on a feature request to the dev team and see what they can do. Right now they are in the midst of a major release for the viewer version 42 and have been more focused on major functionality improvements, but it may be something they can look at in a future build. Your patience in appreciated.

While you're waiting for this to be implemented, try zooming in when doing a search. At higher zoom levels the find results are much more obvious.
