When reading in full screen, often it happens that I have to get out of full screen to pay attention to other applications running at the same time. When I return to the full screen mode, I have to adjust the zoom level again to be at a comfortable level. It is a good idea to have the full screen mode with the "fit width" feature as default. Another solution is to save the zoom level before exiting full screen and reapply the zoom level after entering the full screen mode again.
Another problem with the full screen mode is that by default it's in the "separate page" mode. But the "continuous page" mode seems more natural and comfortable, allowing for gradual scrolling of the contiguous pages.
I would appreciate it a lot if these features and options were added to the full screen mode, especially since the full screen mode allows for the deepest concentration level and the best reading experience.
With many thanks in advance,
Helvib.

Re: Problems with Full Screen
It is not necessary to exit fullscreen mode to switch to other applications — just use Alter Tab.helvib wrote:When reading in full screen, often it happens that I have to get out of full screen to pay attention to other applications running at the same time.
Actually, there is no need to use full screen mode at all. Just customise the toolbars as you like. Even the menu bar can be made floating, and you only need one toolbar for all of the other commands.helvib wrote:It is a good idea to have the full screen mode with the "fit width" feature as default.
You can show toolbars in fullscreen mode or customise the keyboard to switch to continuous mode and fit width. Right-click on any toolbar to open the customise dialogue. The options are almost endless.
I attach a screenshot of my fullscreen mode in PDF-XChange. On entering fullscreen mode I have a single toolbar at the bottom with buttons for fit width and the various page modes — continuous, continuous facing, etc.
Do we need any more options? You're not the first to ask for this, and I expect it will happen one day, but we really don't need it. A shortcut can change the view modes. I use Control 1, Control 2 to switch between fit to page and fit to width; and Control Page Down, Control Page Up to switch between continuous page view and single page view.
You can suit yourself which shortcuts you assign.

Re: Problems with Full Screen
Thank you very much. It's very good idea, but how do I add a toolbar for the full screen mode?

Re: Problems with Full Screen
A good question. I had forgotten how I did it originally. I set a shortcut for the "File" toolbar and customised that toolbar to use in fullscreen mode.
- Right-click on the menu bar and select "Customise"
- With the customise dialogue now open
- Click on the view menu to open the toolbars submenu
- Right-click on the toolbar you want to add a shortcut for
- Select "Properties"
- In the Key field, press the shortcut you wish to use and OK the dialogue
- Close the customise dialogue
- Enter fullscreen mode
- Use your shortcut to show the toolbar
- Exit fullscreen and the toolbar will still be shown the next time

Here's a short YouTube video tutorial to make it even clearer how to customise PDF-XChange.

Unfortunately this process cannot be done for a tool bar which is completely custom made. Can anything be done about that, for example could custom-made menus be added to the view menu?Bhikkhu Pesala wrote:A good question. I had forgotten how I did it originally. It doesn't matter does it? There are plenty of built-in toolbars that you can customise as you like.

Re: Problems with Full Screen
Another way, only with modifications in future builds, is to use the full-screen method as in FastStoneViewer: all of the tools are around the sides (it seems to have quite logical grouping) but not visible until the mouse goes there.
The first time I used FSV I wondered how I was supposed to do anything, then just tried the sides of the screen and found the tools. It was strange at first, but after a few minutes was actually very convenient.

You are making PDF-XChange-Viewer a religion that cannot be disrespected.Bhikkhu Pesala wrote:It doesn't matter does it? There are plenty of built-in toolbars that you can customise as you like.
