Tried to print pdf file (09-086.pdf) from original Excel worksheet (Aramsco.xls) and spacing is off as per previous post. I scanned in print-out and marked some places up (09-086 Scan.pdf).
Windows XP sp3, Brother HL - 5140. Problem may be here, but I don't believe so as it prints fine with Acrobat 6. I have included the Excel file and sheet 09-086 is the one that was printed. I have also included the pdf file and the scan of the print-out that came out of the Brother.
Using Reduce to printer margins did not fix the problem. The scan I sent you is with scaling set to none. Auto-rotate and auto-center set to on. The page out of Excel is so small it does not need scaling.
Let me know if this is all over here.

Re: Print Problem Example
Ivan,
I fiddled with it some more over here and the problem seems to go away if the fonts are Embedded Subsets.
This made me wonder how the Form I sent with the same problem handled the fonts. I have attached the file again for you to see. It seems some of the fonts are embedded, and some are not. I don't know how the fonts for fields are handled. Might this be the problem here also? Thank you for your prompt replys.

Re: Print Problem Example
May have spoke too soon. I re-did the pdf file with fonts embedded from the xls file from earlier today (09-086a.pdf) and printed it. Got a couple of crazy print-outs. You probably already know exactly what is wrong anyway. Please see attached. Thanks.

Re: Print Problem Example
Hi,
A Short 'technical' description of the problem.
How a font is printed: a) when a font isn't embedded or available or the users system, the viewer substitutes this font with the 'nearest' font installed on the users system (this logic is true for printing and viewing) and uses this system font for printing; there are no problems.
b) when the font is embedded the viewer creates a temporary font for printing - and there is a potential problem on W2k and Windows XP x86 (Vista and XP x64 have no such problem; not sure about server versions of OS) because the fonts are not embedded into the print job. So, when the viewer finishish's printing it removes these temporary fonts from the system, and you can get "crazy print-outs".
To handle such situations, we have an option "Print text as curves" (you can get to it by pressing the "Advanced" button on Print dialog) which has three possible values:
"Auto" - will print text as curves only when the creation of a temporary font failed or was impossible;
"For embedded fonts only" (this should be the default) - if text is drawn using a non-embedded font(s) it will be printed as text, otherwise it will be printed as curves.
"Always" - all text will be printed as curves.
Please note, printing text as curves makes a print job larger, sometimes - significantly so !

Re: Print Problem Example
Thank you. I think I have it now. Embed the fonts and leave the Advanced option at it's default setting - "For embedded fonts only". Seems to work.
