I had Acrobat reader 9 installed on a machine before installing PDF Xchange viewer 2.0
While installing PDF Xchange viewer, i selected it as teh default PDF viewer and also chose to opne the PDF files within the browser. It worked fine
Now, for some reason , whenever i click on a PDF file within a webpage i am prompted to OPEN/SAVE/Cancel
I need to make PDFViewer the default PDF viewer and as well force the PDF files to be opened in the browser without any prompts.
I checked the forum and found some info that might be related

I need to know if the command line switch to set the PDF Xchange viewer as default will solve this problem
> PDFXCview.exe /makeassoc /makeiassoc
Is it also required to set some value at the following registry key to prevent any prompts
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFViewer\Prompts
My current value for the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFViewer\Prompts\ConfirmDisplayPDFInBrowser\UserChoice = 6
should i set it to 0 or delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFViewer\Prompts
altogether ?
it is worth noting that i am using a restricted user (not an administrator).
Can you please help ?

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Re: Default PDF viewer and open in browser
No, you should not change this registry settings manually.
Sorry, for now command /makeiassoc aren’t work properly. Instead you better use next command
This will make PDF-XChange Viewer as default viewer for PDF files and allow to open PDFs in browser. But to do this you still will need admin rights.

Code: Select all
PDFXCview.exe /makeassoc:web=yes
