Modify user toolbars in command line
Hi all,
I want to auto change user toolbars settings in pdf xchange viewer.
I try to use reg file with wanted parameters. This file comes from "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Tracker Software" in a correctly configured computer.
I want set toolbars in software AND in browser ... So i export "PDFViewer" and "PDFViewer.IBrowser".
When i tried to import that in my no configured computer but change aren't applieds ... And i don't know why ...
I tried to "export" and "import" settings in the application, but it's only for preferences and no for user interface ...
Can you help me to find the way to configure all the interface and toolbars automaticaly ?
Thanks by advance.

Re: Modify user toolbars in command line
Exporting/Importing registry doesn't help -- regedit doesn't export some required properties for registry entries.
But, Export/Import Settings to/from Data file should work with UI too. So, please let me know the version of the viewer you are using.

James
I can confirm what you experience.
I didn't test with two machines but with exporting a settings file, moving some menus, closing the Viewer, opening it again and loading the saved settings file
The result - no change in the UI after loading the settings file from before the changes.
Will ask the development team to have a look at this.
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Modify user toolbars in command line
The problems with exporting/importing toolbars' settings are fixed and the fix will be available with the new build.

Re: Modify user toolbars in command line
Hello,
I install new version 2.42.3 ... When i export settings, user toolbars are correctly restored.
There is some bugs again :
1 - The language option isn't restored anymore
2 - User toolbars in browser (in my case firefox 3.5.2) isn't restored
Can you try that ? And correct it too ?
Thanks by advance.

Hi James,
the language settings issue is known and will be corrected in the next build. I can't say about the Firefox plugin.

Re: Modify user toolbars in command line
Hi,
Thanks for the new release, but there are some problems again.
1 - All visual settings (toolbars) in the browser plugin, isn't restored when exporting and importings settings in PDFX viewer.
2 - Why have you splitted (like before) the viewer and shell extentions ? Can you tell me how will be the future for that ?
Thanks

Re: Modify user toolbars in command line
In current realization the settings for browser plugin(s) and for PDF-XChange Viewer application are different fully and located separately in two different places.1. All visual settings (toolbars) in the browser plugin, isn't restored when exporting and importings settings in PDFX viewer
For make them as identical you can:
1. run PDF-XChange Viewer application and click "Menu->Edit->Export all Settings".
2. run any Internet Browser and display any pdf, click "Menu->Edit->Import all Settings" (if menu not displayed, please press F9) and specify file created in previous step.

Re: Modify user toolbars in command line
Ok thanks, so i will have 2 settings files : 'mainSettings.dat' and 'browserSettings.dat' for example.
Is it possible to import each in good thing in command line ?
The parameter 'pdfxview.exe /importp "[SettingsFile].dat"', will work ONLY for main settings ? Of if i use this parameter with browserSettings.dat, it works ?
Thanks

Re: Modify user toolbars in command line
The command line:
pdfxview.exe /importp "[SettingsFile].dat"
will update registry-settings (or settings-file for portable version) from specified file for PDF-XChange Viewer application only(!),
not for browser plugins.
In the next build we will add a special feature for changing settings for browser plugins, like:
pdfxview.exe /importp:web=yes "[SettingsFile].dat"
or simple
pdfxview.exe /importp:web "[SettingsFile].dat"
