Jaws PDF-Editor not shown als alternate viewer

Hallo!

I've installed Jaws PDF Editor 4, but this application is not shown as alternate viewer in PDF-XChange. Is there any registry key, I can change manually to change this?

(Adobe Reader 9 is shown and Jaws PDF Editor is registered by windows correcty (open with ... works) ... see screenshots attached).

BTW, because an editor needs to have the pdf-file opened exclusively. Can I tell PDF-XChange to close the file after "sending" it to the alternate viewer?

2. Before launching Jaws PDF Editor the our program will be ask you for close document.

Aha, so you need to change the source code for each alternate viewer tool? I thought, PDF-XChange uses the windows registry to look, which tools are installed like the "open with" feature of windows.

It is very unreliable method (auto detect alternate viewers).
Often lot of programs do not register itself as MIME/Extensions-handlers.

Hi,

Just to put a 'cap' on this - I am afraid we will not be offering a link to Jaws - or any other competitors product - only Adobe's Reader will have such a link in future releases.

It is reasonable to support Adobe as irrespective of any of our opinions - in terms of Industry standards and user expections - Adobe are still the generic standard when it comes to PDF - but I dont think its is unreasonable for us to shy away from supporting and even advancing the interests of other competitors products.
