I have a PDF document that is password protected by
Vitrium Systems Inc. - Protectedpdf.ES version 2008-07-16 (Version 2.6.0 Build 2.0.7.36).
I'm authorized to view the document and have a valid password. When I try to open it with PDF-Xchange I get the following error message "There is an error with this protectedpdf document. It may be damaged. Please contact the publisher for a clean file". I can open the document with Adobe's reader but I want to get rid of Adobe and only use PDFXchange.
Can you help?
I tried changing the security settings to "no password" but that didn't work either.
Thanks,
Gustavo

Hello wadeearly,
The problem is that the attached document (and I assume yours too) are using third party applications for securing the document(s) and at this time our Viewer is not supporting such third party plugins and security methods.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Error opening password protected document
First of all, I love your product so much I registered for your forums to post about this issue. I never register for forums. Why haven't you enabled Oauth or OpenID?
I have the Vitrium Systems Protected PDF. Have you contacted them to see what it would take to allow these documents to work in your viewer? Many people are inflicted with these horribly DRM'ed documents. Also Adobe and Foxit reader (you #1 and #2 competitors I assume) offer this feature. For me, I will use Fokit in portable mode for this issue and keep PDF-XChange as my primary, but for many users this may be an uninstall moment. I will purchase the full version if you fix this and I'm sure others would as well.

Re: Error opening password protected document
The issue for us is there are so many DRM variants ...
We will take a look at the 2 mentioned and contact them over the coming weeks and investigate if we can enable support for our upcoming Version 3 release or soon thereafter - we are already doing so for 'FileOpen' - we will also be offering a PlugIn SDK for 3rd party developers and if we cannot offer support ourselves directly - developers will be free to add support for their DRM systems directly - this is pertinent in regards the number of DRM variants already available and other such addons potentially available now and that may come in the future.
