PDF-XChange Will Not Open: Must use Windows Task Manager

I often cannot open PDF-XChange Viewer; when I try to open a PDF document nothing happens. I am having this problem only on my laptop running Vista Home Premium edition (my desktop computer does not exhibit this problem). I discovered that when this issue occurs, I MUST open Windows Task Manager and end PDF-XChange processes in order for the document to open. Sometimes there are multiple instances of these PDF-Xchange Viewer processes running. As soon as I disable the process in Task Manager, PDF-XChange Viewer automatically opens and displays the document.

What is causing this and how do I stop it from happening? Thanks.

Hi Jeffery,

First can you tell me if you Vista is 32 or 64 bit.

And in the Viewer goto help-> about and let me know what build of the Viewer you are using.

Hey Jeffrey,

Do have just the Viewer or the whole PDF-XChange 4 PRO incl. Viewer

I would uninstall all you have PDF-XChange and download the latest version 42.4 and buil 167 of the print driver (if you own that as well) from here:

Let us know if that solves your problems.

Hi Jeffrey,

the Free and PRO version are the same (there is only one release) - the only difference being if you have a license key - the PRO features do not place a watermark on output when used.
