Hotkey's Do Not Work When Viewing Through Browser
I have set hot keys to work with pdf's. The XChange Viewer is viewing a pdf through firefox, those hotkeys do not work. I have to open it the the actual viewer application. Is this fixable?

Re: Hotkey's Do Not Work When Viewing Through Browser
Hello chs200123,
The reason is because the browser plug-in and the stand alone viewer are using different sets of settings. You can have one hotkey in one of them and completely different in the other for the same operation.
If you would like to have the same however you can export (Edit -> Export all setting to data file) your settings from where you have made the changes and import them in the browser plug-in.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Hotkey's Do Not Work When Viewing Through Browser
I dont suppose you could tell me how to import them into the browser plugin could you? As far as I know the firefox plugin is a .dll called npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll - How exactly would I modify this? Another thing I should point out is that I have tried to change the settings in the brower version of Xchange viewer before. Specifically, I have tried to enter my hotkey keybindings in the the tolls configuration but it never seems to save after I close it. Please tell me what to do - there are only 4 of them that I use quite a bit.

Re: Hotkey's Do Not Work When Viewing Through Browser
Apologies,
In my browser I have turned the main menu of the plugin on (and I think it is off by default), so I forgot you might not see it.
Open a document in your browser and click on it to be sure the plugin is the active one and accepting key commands.
Press F9 to show the "File Edit ..." menu of the plugin and there you will have "Edit -> Import settings from data file".
I am an Opera user but the plugin is the same, and mine is remembering those settings just fine. (I created a Ctrl + Alt + Shift + S hotkey for Save copy as, just for the testing and it's working fine even though I have closed the browser in the meanwhile)

Stefan

I tried this using build 42.7 and FireFox and could not get FF to remember the settings either. In fact the import completes but the settings do not take. I have asked the dev team to look into this.

I know that it sounds sort of strange but it does seem to work only if you right click on the document just before executing each key binding. Strange... Thank you for following up with this

Nothing strange about it at all. If the browser has focus the browser's shortcuts work; if the plugin has focus the plugin's shortcuts will work. Clicking on the PDF gives focus to the plugin. Or, have I missed something?chs200123 wrote:I know that it sounds sort of strange but it does seem to work only if you right click on the document just before executing each key binding. Strange... I find that the imported shortcuts work OK after giving focus to the plugin. However, if I use a shortcut that is not assigned in the plugin, but is assigned in Opera, then the plugin loses focus. Then I have to click on the page to give focus back to the plugin.
It doesn't seem that there is much wrong here. It is not unusable.

Re: Hotkey's Do Not Work When Viewing Through Browser
Thanks for pointing that out Bhikkhu,
I also found that my FireFox keyboard shortcuts were overriding my PDF-Xchange Viewer plugin, but as you say that is reasonable - give focus to the PDF document and my keyboard shortcuts do work, however only when I set them manually. I believe you are an Opera fan so I'm going to assume then that you had no issues importing the settings.dat file into the plugin for Opera? Did you try it with FireFox? Firefox seems to be where the issues is.
thanks

I haven't got the plugin to work in Firefox yet, and don't need to as I only use it for testing web sites.

OK - thanks anyway Bhikkhu,
there should be someone from the dev team taking a look at this soon.

Issue with importing of custom shortcuts is fixed.
Fix will be available in the next build.
Thanks.
