PDF's Won't print 11x17 on HP Laserjet 5000

Post by jujube »

I am using version 2.00 Build 42.8.
I'm trying to print a pdf document in 11x17 using the printer HP laserjet 5000. When I send this pdf through it's blank using the PDF viewer however it prints OK on Adobe reader. If I change the printing size to 8.5"x11" in PDF viewer, it then prints fine.
Why is it not printing in 11x17?
It only does this on some of the PDF documents. Some prints and some won't.

Another issue to printing in 11x17 paper is the margin. Is there any where in PDF viewer that you can modify the document to use all the margin? Seems that when a document is printing in 11x17 paper it set the margin on both sides to 1" automatically. See attach.

Hello jujube,

Your second problem is that 11x17 has a proportion of 1:1.545 while 8.5x11 has a proportion of 1:1.294 so there is no way to fit a 8.5x11 page on a 11x17 sheet without
- stretching and distorting the original look - something we do not offer
- leaving blank spaces (the "problem" you encounter) or
- cropping some of the content off (if you use a custom scale e.g. 154.5% there would be no white space on the top and bottom, but you will lose some of the content)

As for your initial problem you didn't clarify it but is it a completely blank page or just there are margins on all 4 sides? (as the 8.5x11 page was centered on the 11x17 sheet)

As for Adobe I did try but as I do not have a 11x17 printer it was automatically setting the sheet size to 8.5 by 11

Stefan

My initial problem is that when I print some documents using PDF viewer to print 11x17, the output is blank or cuts half of the document. However when I use Adobe to print 11x17 it prints fine.

Hi jujube,

Is the blank result visible in the print preview window or only after the file is printed?

Please do attach (or if sensitive send to support@pdf-xchange.com with a link to this topic) such an 11x17 file which you are not able to print in full and if possible a scan of the wrong printout. The file in your earlier post has both it's pages 8.5x11.

Regards,
Stefan

The blank or cut off result is only after the file is printed.

I don't know if the issue is because the file is using 8.50x11 paper so it's transfer over to 11x17 paper it's cut off or prints blank?

Have you tried using the rescaling options in the print menu ?

E.g. the Custom scale option ?
