Major problem

Post by nbrege »

I am using the iTextSharp .Net library (http://sourceforge.net/projects/itextsharp/) to add watermarks to PDF files. PDF-XChange Viewer DOES NOT display these watermarks. Adobe Reader shows them perfectly. They do print from PDFXC if the "Document and Stamps" option is selected, but the spacing is all screwed up. Is there any settings in PDFXC that will allow these watermarks to display & also print correctly? Again, these watermarks display & print perfectly in Adobe Reader, but I want to get away from using AR. PDFXC meets all my needs except for the watermark issue. Any advice?

Hello again nberge,

I will now ask someone from the development team to have a look, but if you can provide us with a sample file with such watermarks that are not visible this will surely help. If the files are attached here please .zip them or if they are too big do provide a link from where we can download and test one such.

Regards,
Stefan

Here is a test file I made. There is a watermark in the center, at a 30 degree angle.

Stefan ... the problem only appears to be with the portable version of PDF-XChange Viewer.
I just tried it in the installed version & it works fine.

Sorry, but we cannot reproduce this problem with the portable version either.

In fact there is only one important difference between the portable and installed versions - the location where the settings are stored (also the portable version does not provide plugins for internet browsers and shell extension plugins etc).

Maybe you have very old portable version?

I was using the latest version as of my original post. I was seeing the problem on 2 different PC's. Must be just a fluke...

If you still have problems please do following:
0. Make sure that you are using latest version (2.0.42.10 for now).
1. Make screenshot of problem view.
2. Make scrrenshot of Fonts tab in document properties.
3. On PC where problem exists Use Help -> Report a Problem ..., select all checkboxes (maybe except information about printers) and send us email. Please add to mesage both screenshots and link to this topic on forum.

Here are some screenshots:

1) Test file in PDF-XChange Viewer portable version. For some reason it displayed the watermark this time. Most times it doesn't. Notice the spacing.

2) Screenshot of Fonts tab.

3) Screenshot of same file in Adobe Reader, showing the watermark, with proper spacing.

Let me know if you would like any other info. Thanks...

As I said before - step 3 is very important.
If you have some problems sending email - just save message and attach it here.
If you have no e-mail client installed (or it does not support MAPI) - use following command line:

Code: Select all

PDFXCview.exe /FontList listfilename.txt
where listfilename.txt is name of file with info we will need.
