Usage Issues

Post by Blaisine »

I began using the free version of PDF-XChange Viewer on 12-28-09. I have encountered difficulties employing the features below. Instructions and suggestions are welcome.

1- After I create a text box or a typewriter box, I am not able to go back and forth between typing text in the box and altering the box size. Once I come out of text-entering mode to resize the box, I am not able to return to entering text in the box.

2- Within a text box or a typewriter box, I am not able to change the size and color of a font or use Bold, Italics, Underline, Highlight, etc. Pressing Ctrl + E, as indicated in the Help section, although it brings up a toolbar, it does not contain the above stated commands, as described in the Help section. Are they available only in the paid version?

3- When I need to include one full page of text in Word in the PDF, is it possible to copy/paste it into a Comment, as the option to Attach it to the PDF is only available in the paid version? Thus far, I have not been able to locate the option for creating a Comment. Is that feature also only available in the paid version?

4- Once I create a Sticky, I am not able to go back into it and edit the text in it, but must delete the Sticky and create a new one.

5- How do I set up default texts for the Author and Subject lines that are applicable only to an individual PDF? Presently I have to go back into each Sticky after I create it, to modify the program's chosen default text for the Author and Subject lines.

1-2. To resize the text object or change the object properties from the Properties Toolbar you select the object; to edit the text or change the text properties (font, size, colour, etc.) you select the text. Double-click the text object to select the text — the cursor will change to an I-beam text cursor.

2. The paid for and free versions are identical. However, the free version adds watermarks if you use any of the Pro features. The Pro features can be hidden from the menus in Preferences, Registration.

3. The comment tool is called the "Sticky Note Tool."

4. Same as 1. If you select the comment the properties toolbar shows the Sticky Note properties; if you select the text it shows the text properties.

5. Insert a name in Preferences, Identity, If no name is entered here, the Windows User Login name is used.
