I use PDF-XChange Viewer as my primary pdf viewer. Most of the pdfs I access from my browser are from scientific journals which don't view in the browser (I believe they are generated on the fly), but open in the stand alone viewer. Consequently, 90% of my 'recently opened...' list consists of files that were downloaded to my temporary directory and then automatically deleted once closed, pushing my local files off the list.
I would like to request that the viewer either read the temp directory environment variable and exclude those paths from the recently opened list or else give the option of being able to manually define a list of directories that should be ignored.

If you attempt to reopen a deleted file it will be deleted from the list of recent files.
You can also pin your local files onto the list.

Re: Feature Request: Exclude temp directory from 'recent files'
Yes, I realize that. My point is that temporary files get deleted as soon as they are closed, so having them appear on the list is pointless. After a long session of reading journal articles online, my recently opened list consists of the 5 files I have pinned and 45 temporary files that no longer exist on my hard drive, rather than the files that I actually have local access to. Sure, I can open the recently opened list and manually delete the temporary files from the list, but by that time the local files have already been bumped, so it's too late. It would be much more useful if, upon opening a file, if the path included a temp directory, the viewer just neglected to add the file to the list. If I save the file to a permanent path, then the file can be added with a link to the permanent location.
