Problem with tooltips

Post by jykim »

Hi,

When you mouse over the toolbar items or menu items, you get tooltips. The tooltip box goes away if the mouse moves out of the item, but if the tooltip box stays and if it's selected by mouse, the viewer is frozen - it does not repond to mouse.
To reproduce this, you have to move the mouse really quickly to hover it on an toolbar item to see tooltip box, and try to hover it on the tooltip box, then the tooltip box will stay.
I know it's hard to reproduce this problem, but it is definitely possible, and many of our users are encountering this problem.
So, I was wondering if it's possible to disable all the tooltips all together to avoid this problem.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, jykim.

We cannot reproduce this issue.
1. Please check your version and update to latest. It should resolve your problem.
2. Can you send your example application to allow us to reproduce it?
3. You may turn off of all command-tooltips by:

Code: Select all

SetProperty("View.ShowTooltipsOnToolbars", "false", 0);
Best

Hi Vasyl,

Thanks for looking into this.
Like I said, it's hard to reproduce the problem. I think the best place to reproduce this is on the page navigation toolbar.
You mouse over the box where it shows the current page number, and you'll get a tooltip "Display Current Page Number in this Document". (see attached image). Now, try to mouse over onto the tooltip box. You may have to move your mouse fast enough to hold the tooltip box still visible and click on it. Try multiple times until you get it.

I'm using the latest version (2.0.0044.0000), and I'm using the viewer via Java/SWT ActiveX support, so it's kind of hard for me to send you my example application. But, I believe that you should be able to reproduce this problem with your example application.

Anyway, as you suggested, hiding tooltips on toolbars fixes the problem for me for now.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, jykim.

Unfortunately, I still cannot to reproduce this trouble.

I tried to reproduce it in more of our examples(and in Java/SWT Example) but our tooltips work properly in every case.

Also for advanced test, I increased the temporary hiding-interval for tooltips.

After this I clicked on the tooltip window, but it worked correctly(in Java/SWT Example also), without any freezing.

Maybe you use some Windows-hooks in your product?

Hi Vasyl,

I'm sending you my sample application, which is created with Eclipse Version: 3.3.1.1.
You need to change the code for the pdf file path.
I can easily reproduce the problem, but if you're having problem of reproducing it, you can increased the temporary hiding-interval for tooltips, as you did.
Please let me know if I'm doing something that's causing this problem.
Thanks.
