I was running version 2.0.44 which I thought would have checked for updates automatically.
I just ran the updater manually and it found version 2.0.45 which was apparently released on the 10th January.
Is there any system for enabling an automatic check for updates when it is opened either as a standalone program or as a plugin to Firefox or IE8

Re: Automatic checking for updates
I doubt it. From the first days I joined, their updating process has always been screwed-up. A week or so ago, I updated my version of Xchange Pro. That update was supposed to update my viewer as well. It didn't... So, I downloaded a copy of the Viewer only, and updated it. VOILA!! I was updated to version 2.42.6. I think Ivan owns 2.42.6 and I got his copy because it's not been released!Oldjim wrote:I was running version 2.0.44 which I thought would have checked for updates automatically.

Now, when I go to the Xchange Viewer and check for updates, it wants to update me from version 2.42.6 to version 2.42.5. No kidding! An update where the version number gets smaller, not larger. That's a first...
But the product is good. The support is good. They just have a few issues with their installation routines and pre-release testing.

Re: Automatic checking for updates
Hello Oldjim,
On your initial question:
There are no automatic checks for updates as most of our users have requested it to be so.
To have a checker means to run another background application on your machine that would take up system resources to just check once a day for updates that are released usually once every couple of weeks.
There is a manual "Help -> Check for updates" in the Viewer Main menu which is run on demand and is the better accepted solution by most.
What Cadillakin said about the issues with the Update checker is true but we are trying to remove them, and as far as new builds are concerned after a bad experience about half an year ago we are much more cautious with releases lately.
Other than that you can rely on us for support and help in any way
Best Regards,
Stefan
