Can dimensions be manually entered

Post by brettsprks »

Can anyone help?
Is there a way to manually enter the size and scale of a shape or line in PDF x-change viewer, instead of having to draw a dimension line with the measurement tool and then pull out an object to that size?
Help would be greatly appreciated as it will cut the time it takes me to Highlight construction drawings.

Not that I know of.

In preferences, measurements, you can show rulers, guidelines, and a grid. You can snap distance lines to the guidelines, which may help you a little. You may be better off opening the PDF files in a Drawing Program like DrawPlus to add the measurements. Then you have those kind of tools to enter the precise measurements on the context toolbar for the dimension lines.

This feature would help me too. I missed it already.

A related question:

Is it possible to manually change the size/text generated by
the measurement tool?

I work with drawings in pdf format and PDF-XChange-Viewer daily.

Hi jenskl

The font size cannot be changed for dimension-annotations (distance/area/perimeter) This is specified by Adobe's PDF standard.
Adobe Acrobat cannot change it either.

Hi Paul,

my question was ambiguous.

I don't need to change the font size but rather
to edit the text itself (the measured number).

Until now, I have to improvise with lines and
typewriter.

sorry jenskl the numbers can only come from the distance between the points being measured and adjusted only by changing the scale.

Your options are to use a text box over the top as you do now or create 'faux' dimensions using the Line Tool and Text box tools.

Again this if because of the PDF specification and were we to change the way this behaves users of other PDF Viewers would not see your dimensions as you do without using PDF-XChange Viewer.
