Update Document if changed

Post by timmorn »

An advantage of working in Linux is that also open documents can be edited. For example when working with Latex this is very useful. The document can be open in the viewer and when you update the file the viewer can show the changed file automatically. All linux pdf viewers can do this as i know. They update the file in the moment it gets changed.

It would be a great improvement for linux users if pdfxchange can also do this. In the moment it does nothing and crashes after some minutes if the opened file is changed in the background. Or sometimes it claims that the file is not existing any more and asks if you would like to reopen. This comes near to the thing the viewer should do. But it should happen automatically and without a gap if you changed nothing in the document.

Thanks

Under Windows we have now ability to watch if opened document was changed and reopen it.
But PDF-XChange Viewer wasn't designed to work under Linux, so, we will not pay too much attention if it will not work with Wine.

Yes, like i said this is working under linux too. But it would be more useful if it would update the document automatically (if its really important to ask, then make a choice) and without such a long lag. For me it seems that the viewer only recognizes something if he must touch the file again.
